How is a storm named?

Each storm has its own naming convention. In this way, the storm formed in this way is named Mantos. The name is given by the United Arab Emirates. It means treasure chest in Arabic.

The background to who names the storm is interesting. As per the guidelines of the World Meteorological Organization, the convention of naming storms is also followed to avoid confusion in receiving information on natural disasters. Worldwide, six Regional Special Meteorological Centers and five Regional Tropical Storm Warning Centers are authorized to issue advisories and designations.

The India Meteorological Department is one of the six Regional Specialized Meteorological Centres. India Meteorological Department provides advisories for India and 12 countries. They are Bangladesh, Iran, Maldives, Myanmar, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, United Arab Emirates and Yemen.
