Reservation Amendment Bill passed in Bihar Legislature by Governor Rajendra Arlekar (Bihar Governor Rajendra Arlekar) also gave his approval on Tuesday. With this, the way for 65 percent reservation in Bihar is now cleared. This will increase the scope of reservation among SC-ST, OBC-EBC category people. Soon a gazette in this regard will also be published by the General Administration Department. After this it will come into effect. Let us tell you that in the winter session of Bihar Legislature, this bill was passed unanimously by the Assembly and the Legislative Council. In this there was a proposal to increase the scope of reservation from 50 to 65 percent. By adding 10 percent of EWS, reservation in Bihar will now become 75 percent.
With the implementation of the Reservation Amendment Bill, Scheduled Castes will get 20 percent reservation, Scheduled Tribes will get 2 percent, Most Backward Castes will get 25 percent and Backward Classes will get 18 percent reservation. Along with this, people belonging to economically weaker general category will get 10 percent reservation.
After the release of the socio-economic report of caste census in Bihar, CM Nitish had proposed to increase the scope of reservation to 75%. Nitish government first approved it in Bihar cabinet. After this, this bill was presented in the Assembly in two parts. It included reservation in educational institutions and government jobs.
