Doha: Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh signaled the end of the war with Israel. Such a claim was made in a message posted on X. Hania also informed that discussions regarding the release of 240 hostages following the violence on October 7 are underway.

Hamas has killed more than 1200 people in the violence so far. Most of these are Israeli civilians. In response to the attacks and subsequent kidnappings by Hamas, Israel launched heavy bombardments in Palestine. Israel’s goal was to completely destroy Hamas and free the hostages.

Hamas says 13,300 people, including many children, have been killed in the Israeli offensive in Gaza. Mediation talks are currently underway under the leadership of Qatar. US President Joe Biden responded that he had received information that the two sides were close to an agreement on the release of the hostages.

The news agency reports that the discussion is that the hostages will be released in exchange for announcing a five-day ceasefire.

The current demand includes the release of 300 Palestinians from Israeli prisons. It contains many women and children. The White House says it is very optimistic about the talks, but cannot release further details at this time.
