Maratha Reservation Protest:

The issue of Maratha reservation is very hot in the state at present. The Maratha brothers have become very aggressive for their demand for reservation, which is affecting the political agenda. The Maratha Kranti Morcha has expressed strong opposition to the official grand puja being held by the Deputy Chief Minister on Kartiki Ekadashi and has warned against coming to Pandharpur. Due to this, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has appealed to the Maratha brothers not to obstruct the puja saying that it is not their culture to oppose the puja.

What did Chief Minister Eknath Shinde say?

“Ashadhi and Kartiki Ekadashi are a rich tradition of Maharashtra. Lakhs of devotees come to Pandharpur to observe Kartiki Ekadashi as well as Ashadhi due to the flow of Vitthal. Kartiki Ekadashi is honored by the Deputy Chief Minister of the state. Therefore, there is no culture of Maharashtra to oppose or obstruct the worship…” Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said.

He also appealed to the Maratha brothers that “it is not appropriate to raise a tone of opposition in the religious and devotional environment of Ekadashi. Therefore, we should not try to break this tradition and create obstacles. On Ekadashi, only Vitthalnama should be sounded in Maharashtra. The whole area should be filled with cheers…” He also appealed to the Maratha brothers.

Meanwhile, Manoj Jarange Patil should be called for the Mahapuja of Vitthal-Rukmini on the occasion of Kartiki Ekadashi. The Maratha brothers also demanded that the Mahapuja of Kartiki Ekadashi should be done by Jarange Patal. A similar letter was also given to the temple committee by the Maratha Kranti Morcha.
