According to the Chennai Meteorological Department, due to the low atmospheric circulation, there is a possibility of very heavy rain in Kumari, Nellai, Tenkasi and Theni in Tamil Nadu today and moderate rain in various parts of Tamil Nadu for 5 days.
Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely to occur at many places in Tamil Nadu, Puduvai and Karaikal today due to the low atmospheric circulation prevailing over Kumari Kadal, coastal areas of Tamil Nadu and adjoining Southwest – Central West Bay of Bengal.
Heavy to very heavy rain at one or two places over Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Tenkasi and Theni districts, Tuticorin, Ramanathapuram, Virudhunagar, Madurai, Dindigul, Tirupur, Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Thiruvallur, Iranipet, Kanchipuram, Chennai, Chengalpattu, Mayiladuthurai, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam and Karaikal districts. It is also reported that there is a chance of heavy rain at some places.

Cyclonic winds with a speed of 40 to 45 kmph and occasional gusts of 55 kmph are likely to occur over coastal areas of Tamil Nadu, Gulf of Mannar and Kumari Sea today and tomorrow.

Regions of the Bay of Bengal:
Cyclonic winds with a speed of 40 to 45 kmph and occasional speed of 55 kmph are likely to occur over the coastal areas of Sri Lanka and adjoining Southwest Bay of Bengal, coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining Central West Bay of Bengal today and tomorrow.
Therefore, the Meteorological Department has warned the fishermen not to go to these areas on the above days.
