Roofs of ration shops and houses were damaged by the wind
Kilimanoor: Winds accompanied by summer rains on Monday afternoon caused massive damage in the higher areas of Pulimath Panchayat. Four houses and a ration shop were partially destroyed. Several trees, including three electric poles and rubber trees, were also uprooted by the wind.
The wind blew in Talikuzhi, Tengumkonam and Perhumkunnu areas. The sheet roof of J. Suresh’s ration shop at Tengumkonam was blown away by the wind. Due to heavy rain, all the rations stored inside the shop got wet and destroyed. The roof of the asbestos sheeted shed adjacent to Ranjith’s house at Tulsibhavan in Tengumkonam also collapsed. Several trees were also uprooted on Perumkunn.
In Talikuzhi, the roof fell on top of the house of Ladakupara Manohar and the roof collapsed. The sheet roof of Shanta’s house in Venmanam Paravillaveet was blown away. The house was completely uninhabitable due to the complete loss of the roof.
The roof sheet of Mohanan’s house in Venmanam Colony was also blown away by the wind and fell to the ground. Tree tops fell on top of several houses and power poles.
Two electricity pylons were completely destroyed and one partially collapsed. Traffic could not be fully restored due to fallen trees on the road. Electricity supply has also stopped.
