The central government has brought the Prime Minister Ujjwala scheme for the poor. Launched in 2016, the scheme aims to provide gas connection to poor people in rural areas. It can be said that this project which was brought in such a way was well received by the people.

In this case, the central government is currently working with the aim of increasing the supply of piped gas. As 10.27 crore households have benefited under the Ujjwala scheme, now piped gas connection is expected to reach the same number of people.

In addition to this, 12.5 crore households are to be provided with piped natural gas connections. A target has been set to achieve this goal by 2023.

Based on statistics, as of March, natural gas connections in our country are 1.21 crore. By January 2024, up to 10 thousand kilometers of natural gas pipelines have been laid. The number of connections is increasing in urban areas.

Natural gas piping is more convenient compared to LPG gas cylinders. There is no transportation cost. So its price is also low. And no more fear of running out of gas while cooking. Because the supply of gas through the pipeline is continuous.

Natural gas lines can increase usage by increasing gas supply in cities. Therefore, it can be said that piped gas will get more priority in the coming times. This can reduce the gas load to some extent.

Currently, the price of a 14.2 kg gas cylinder is Rs. is 860. It can be said that the cylinder price has come down recently. Otherwise, it is worth noting that the cylinder price was Rs.1100. When compared to the cylinder price, the idea is that pipeline natural gas is cheaper.
