Ahmedabad – Royal Challengers Bengaluru set a target of 201 runs against Gujarat Titans in IPL. After losing the toss, Gujarat scored 200 runs for the loss of three wickets in 20 overs. Sai Sudarshan (84 off 49 balls) and Shahrukh Khan (58 off 30 balls) scored half-centuries for Gujarat.
Despite losing opener Wriddhiman Saha (five) and captain Shubman Gill (16) early on, the Sai Sudarshan-Shah Rukh Khan partnership helped the Titans. Shahrukh Khan completes the player’s first half-century in IPL in 24 balls. Mohammad Siraj made Shahrukh bold while the score was 131.
Sai Sudarshan stepped up the attack by partnering David Miller in the final balls and Gujarat’s score rose rapidly. Gujarat scored 62 runs in the last five overs. David Miller brought the score to 200 with a six off the last ball of the 20th over bowled by Yash Dayal. David Miller remained unbeaten on 26 off 19 balls. Swapnil Singh, Mohammad Siraj and Glenn Maxwell took one wicket each for RCB.
Bengaluru captain Faf du Plessis won the toss and elected to bat. Glenn Maxwell returned to the RCB playing XI after taking a long break due to mental stress. Bengaluru will have to win all their remaining matches by a big margin if they want to keep their playoff chances alive. RCB are at the bottom of the points table with only two wins from nine games. Gujarat Titans are at the seventh position with eight points.
