KUALA LUMPUR: After days of political uncertainty in Malaysia, Pakatan Harapan coalition leader Anwar Ibrahim took office as Prime Minister. Anwar Ibrahim was nominated as the Prime Minister by the King of Malaysia, Sultan Abdullah Ahmad Shah. He was sworn in at the Royal Palace in Kuala Lumpur at 5pm on Thursday.

Meanwhile, it is not clear with whom Anwar Ibrahim Anwar Ibrahim has reached an alliance for the required number of members to form the government.

Political uncertainty has arisen in the country as no party has won an absolute majority in the elections. With this, King Sultan Abdullah intervened to solve the crisis. In a statement, King Sultan Abdullah said that all politicians should work together for the benefit of the country. Anwar Ibrahim said in a tweet that he will fulfill the responsibility assigned to him beautifully.

Former Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaqub’s Barisan Nasional (BN) alliance suffered a major setback in the elections to the 222-member parliament. BN alliance is limited to 30 seats. Meanwhile, Anwar Ibrahim’s rival Pakatan Harapan alliance made progress. It won 82 seats but could not get an absolute majority. The Malay-centric Perikatan National (PN) party led by former Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yasin won 73 seats. This led to coalition government.
