The Chennai Meteorological Department has released the weather forecast for the next five days of Pipperjoy Cyclone in the Arabian Sea and Puducherry, Tamil Nadu. At 05:30 PM it strengthened into a deep depression over the same region and strengthened into Cyclone “Pepperjoy” over the Middle East and adjoining Southeast Arabian Sea at 05:30 PM.

It moved in a northerly direction and strengthened into a severe storm at 05:30 am today (07.06.2023) and at 08:30 am it was located about 880 km west-southwest of Goa and about 990 km south-west of Mumbai. It is likely to intensify into a very severe storm in the next 12 hours. It may move northward in next 24 hours and then move north northwest in next three days.

Due to upper atmospheric circulation and heat wave prevailing over Tamil Nadu region, 07.06.2023: Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning at few places over Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Karaikal. Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Cuddalore, Kallakurichi, Salem, Dharmapuri, Namakkal, Tiruchirappalli and Pudukottai districts received heavy rain at one or two places.

08.06.2023 and 09.06.2023:: Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal regions may experience light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning at a few places.

10.06.2023 and 11.06.2023: Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal may receive light to moderate rain at a couple of places.

Maximum Temperature: 07.06.2023: Maximum temperature at a couple of places in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry is likely to be in the range of 38 degree to 40 degree Celsius.

Heat wave warning: Heat wave may prevail in a couple of places in the interior of Tamil Nadu.

Cyclonic winds with a speed of 105 to 115 kmph and occasional gusts of 125 kmph are likely to occur over the Middle East and adjoining Midwest and Southeast Arabian Sea. After that, wind speed may increase to 125 to 135 kmph and occasional gusts of 155 kmph over the same areas from night onwards.

08.06.2023: Cyclonic winds with a speed of 35 to 45 kmph and occasional gusts of 55 kmph are likely to occur over coastal areas of Karnataka. Cyclonic winds with a speed of 130 to 140 kmph and occasional gusts of 155 kmph are likely to occur over the Central East Arabian Sea and adjoining Midwestern and South Arabian Sea areas. After that, wind speed will increase over the same areas from night onwards to 135 to 145 kmph with occasional gusts of 160 kmph.

Cyclonic winds with a speed of 40 to 50 kmph and occasional gusts of 60 kmph are likely to occur over South Arabian Sea. Cyclonic winds of 135 to 145 lo meters per hour with occasional gusts of 160 kilometers per hour are likely to occur over Central Arabian Sea. After that, wind speed may increase to 145 to 155 kmph and occasional gusts of 170 kmph over the same areas from evening onwards.

10.06.2023: Cyclonic winds with a speed of 35 to 45 kmph and occasional gusts of 55 kmph are likely over coastal areas of Karnataka. Cyclonic winds of 40 to 50 kmph and occasional gusts of 60 kmph are likely to occur over South Arabian Sea. Cyclonic winds of 145 to 155 kmph and occasional gusts of up to 170 kmph are expected over Central Arabian Sea.

11.06.2023: Cyclonic winds with a speed of 135 to 145 kmph and occasional gusts of 160 kmph are likely to occur over Central and adjoining North Arabian Sea.

07.06.2023: Cyclonic winds with a speed of 45 to 55 km per hour and occasional speed of 65 km per hour may occur over Kumari Sea, Gulf of Mannar, South Tamil Nadu coastal areas. Andaman Sea, Middle East and adjoining Mid-West Bay, Southeast and Southwest Bay of Bengal and Sri Lankan coast. Cyclonic winds may reach 40 to 45 kmph with occasional gusts of 55 kmph.

From 08.06.2023 to 10.06.2023: Cyclonic winds with a speed of 45 to 55 kmph and intermittent speed of 65 kmph are likely to occur over Kumari Kadal areas, Gulf of Mannar areas, South Tamil Nadu coastal areas, North Andaman Sea areas. Cyclonic winds with a speed of 40 to 45 kmph and occasional gusts of 55 kmph are likely over Central East and Central West Bay of Bengal, Southeast and South West Bay of Bengal and Sri Lankan coast.

11.06.2023: Cyclonic winds with a speed of 45 to 55 kmph and occasional 65 kmph are likely to occur over Kumari Sea, Gulf of Mannar, South Tamil Nadu coastal areas. Andaman Sea, Middle East and adjoining Mid-West Bay of Bengal, South-East and South-West Bay of Bengal and Sri Lankan coast. Cyclonic winds may reach 40 to 45 kmph with occasional gusts of 55 kmph. Fishermen are advised not to go to these areas on the above mentioned days.
