Shahrukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Preity Zinta’s film KAL HO NA HO was released in the year 2003. But Shahrukh was about to leave the film after only four days of shooting. Why?

In the year 2003, the film “KAL HO NA HO” starring Shahrukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Preity Zinta was released. Director Nikhil Advani made his directorial debut with this film. In an interview given to Rajshree Unplugged, Nikhil told how Shahrukh was about to leave the film after four days of shooting. Why? The reason was injury. He told that after this we thought it best to delay the film and waited till Shahrukh gets well.

Nikhil told in the interview,

‘After four days of shooting, Shahrukh developed back pain and asked to be removed from the film. The team refused this and decided to delay the film. Later the production of the film was halted for six months.

Nikhil also told that there was a lot of pressure on him during the film “Kal Ho Na Ho”. The reason behind this was the brilliant performance of ‘Kuch Kuch Hota’ and ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’. He felt that if the next film of Dharma Productions under the leadership of Karan Johar would not perform well, then it would be said that Nikhil Advani had spoiled his 100% track record. Therefore there was an atmosphere of pressure and anxiety.

While talking about New York in the interview, Nikhil also said that the location of the film was not only expensive but it also had its own problems.

As? In Nikhil’s words,

“No one had ever shot in New York before. People went to London, people went to Switzerland, people went to Europe. But shooting in New York, unions had their own problems. Because according to him it was an expensive place for a first-time filmmaker. But Yash Johar was ready to accept any production challenge.

At the end of the interview, he told that ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’ was not a very easy film at all. Let us tell you that on 28 November 2023, 20 years of the film’s release will be completed.
