Mammootty’s Kannur Squad released on October 19. Apart from Mammootty, the film directed by debutant Robbie Varghese Raj also featured Sabreesh Verma, Aziz Nedumangad and Ronnie David.
Sunny Wayne also played a role in the film. The intro to the Kannur squad in the film was played by a journalist played by Sunny Wayne.
Sunny Wayne talks about Dulquer Salmaan’s comment after watching the film. In an interview to Let’s Talk Malayalam, he said that Dulquer said that he loved it after seeing it on the screen and that some of the movies used to speak to him like that.
He had seen the Kannur squad. When he saw it on the screen, he said that he liked it very much. Sunny Wayne said all the things in the movies seen like that.
Sunny Wayne also said that Dulquer’s career has inspired him. ‘No one could have predicted the decisions made and the journeys that have taken place so far. Did anyone think that it would go to Pan Indian level like this? His hard work has inspired me terribly,’ added Sunny Wayne.
On November 17, Kannur Squad was also released on Netflix. The film received good reviews from the audience outside Kerala.
Vela is Sunny Wayne’s last released film. Shane Nigam played another character in the film. The story of the film is told in the background of the police control room.
Produced by S. George under the banner of Sinsil Celluloid, Vela is directed by Shyam Shashi and written by M. Sajas is also performed. Badusha Productions are the co-producers of the film. Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films distributed the film in Kerala.
