Sam Altman Microsoft Joining Update: It is not yet decided whether OpenAI’s former co-founder Sam Altman and former President Greg Brockman will join Microsoft or not. The Verge reports that both of them could return to the company if the board members who fired Altman step down.

It is noteworthy that after the removal of Altman and Brockman from OpenAI, on Monday, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella had said that both of them will join Microsoft and lead the new advanced AI research team. Some employees will also join along with him.

In a conversation with CNBC, Nadella was asked whether Sam Altman and 700 OpenAI employees would join Microsoft? To this Nadella replied- ‘It is up to the OpenAI board, management and employees to choose.’

He further said that I am ready for both the options. Microsoft wants to continuously innovate, for which it has entered into an exclusive partnership with OpenAI. In an interview given to Bloomberg TV, Nadella said on Microsoft’s seat on the board of OpenAI that it is clear that there should be some changes in governance.

After Altman was fired from OpenAI, the employees there have asked the company’s board of directors to step down. If this is not done, 505 out of 700 employees have threatened to resign collectively. Board member Ilya Sutskever and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Mira Murati are also among those threatening to resign.
