
Tuesday brought a sigh of relief for the families of workers trapped in the Silkyara tunnel in Uttarkashi. The workers trapped in the tunnel for 10 days have got some relief by talking to their family members for the first time. The rescue team officials, achieving a major success in the ongoing operation after the collapse of Silkyara tunnel, rescued the trapped workers through a 6-inch wide pipeline on Tuesday morning. Have established communication facility for successful interaction.
“Please record, I will tell my mother something,” Jaidev, one of the trapped workers, said in Bengali while speaking to a supervisor at the tunnel collapse site. Mother, tension corona ami thik achi. The supervisor was heard asking the people trapped inside the tunnel not to worry and to get them out soon. The supervisor asked the worker if he wanted to say anything to his parents because the voice recording would be sent home to his parents. On November 12, during the construction of a tunnel from Silkyara to Barkot, 41 workers were trapped due to debris falling on 60 meter of it. It is believed that the workers are trapped in a 2km section of the tunnel which has been completed with concrete work, which is providing workers safety. There is electricity and water facility in this part of the tunnel.
