The Meteorological Department has informed that on the 8th and 9th of this storm, there is a possibility of heavy rain in Chennai, Thiruvallur, Villupuram, Cuddalore and other districts of Tamil Nadu. According to this, disaster recovery teams have rushed to the districts where heavy rain warning has been issued.
Meanwhile, Director of Chennai Meteorological Center Balachandran has informed that “Mandus storm will cross the coast between Puducherry-Sriharikota this evening and there is a possibility of very heavy rain in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal from tomorrow till 10th.

In this case, as red alert has been issued in Chennai, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, Thiruvallur, Cuddalore and other districts due to heavy rain, it seems that schools and colleges may be given two days holiday on the 8th and 9th.
It is said that educational institutes may be given holiday as a precautionary measure as the storm is likely to bring strong winds. It is also said that the concerned District Collectors will issue a notification in this regard.
