As the departure of monsoon is approaching, the worries of farmers are increasing. Monsoon will officially depart after 11 days i.e. on 30th September. But till now only 66 percent rainfall has been recorded. Due to this, drought conditions have arisen in the entire state for the second consecutive year. Till now only 62 percent has been planted. According to the Meteorological Department, there should have been 944 mm rainfall in the state till September 18, but only 625.9 mm rainfall has been recorded. The situation has become dire due to 53 percent less rainfall in 21 districts including Ranchi. The situation is worst in Chatra. Because, 63 percent less rainfall has been recorded here.
Only three districts of the state, Godda, Sahibganj and Simdega have received normal rainfall. In view of the reduction in crop cover, the Agriculture Department has directed to cultivate coarse grains as an alternative crop under the contingency plan in all the districts. Here, due to drought, more than 30 lakh farmers of the state will not get any relief this year also. Because, Jharkhand is not included in PM Crop Insurance Scheme. Under the Chief Minister Drought Relief Scheme, farmers will get only Rs 3,500. Will get benefit only. In view of this, the government is once again considering joining the Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme.
Sowing of total crops is better than last year, but less district wise
Despite less rainfall, the production of paddy, maize, pulses and oilseeds in the state is better than last year. So far, against the target of total crop coverage in the state of 28.27 lakh hectares, the crop has been planted in 17.56 lakh hectares, which is only 62.12 percent of the set target. Whereas, till this time last year, sowing had taken place only in 13.90 lakh hectares, which was 49.17 percent.
Disaster management department will take decision on drought, preparations to provide relief to farmers
There is a drought like situation due to less rainfall. The Disaster Management Department will take a decision on declaring drought. I have instructed the cultivation of coarse grains as an alternative farming under the contingency plan. To compensate the farmers, they are considering joining the Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme. -Abu Bakar Siddiqui, Secretary, Agriculture Department
Here… Narmada floods in 7 districts of Gujarat, 12 thousand rescued, 22 trains cancelled.
The effect of the deep depression formed in the Bay of Bengal is now ending. Due to this, less rainfall is expected in most parts of the country for the next 6 to 7 days. However, due to heavy rains in Gujarat in the last 24 hours, low lying areas of Vadodara, Bharuch, Narmada, Dahod, Panchmahal, Anand and Gandhinagar districts have been submerged. 10 teams of NDRF and SDRF have so far rescued 12 thousand people from here. Due to the release of water from Sardar Sarovar Dam, the low-lying areas of Bharuch have been submerged in water up to 20 to 40 feet. Maximum 6 thousand people were saved from here.
Water till the bridge, dangerous journey
Eight trains on the Vadodara route and 14 on the Mumbai-Gujarat route were canceled on Monday after rising water levels in Narmada caused flooding in Ankleshwar and Bharuch. 21 were diverted.
