Cyclonic storm ‘Mandous’ formed from a deep pressure in the southwest and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal is moving towards the coasts of North Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and South Andhra Pradesh. In view of the apprehension of danger, NDRF, Navy and other organizations have been asked to be prepared. The name of ‘Mandus’ storm has been given by the United Arab Emirates. Orange alert in 12 districts of Tamil Nadu
Heavy rains and strong winds are expected in the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu. The Meteorological Department has issued Red Alert in 13 districts for 8 December and Orange Alert in 12 districts for 9 December in Tamil Nadu.

How is a cyclone formed?

In the Southern Hemisphere it is called Cyclone and Willy-Willy in Western Australia, Hurricane or Typhoon in the Northern Hemisphere and Tornado in the Gulf of Mexico.

Get the houses repaired.
Keep wooden boards ready to fix on the glass windows.

Keep inflammable materials safely so that they do not take a dangerous form when strong wind blows.
