Teacher not ready to give Rs 1 lakh from welfare fund

A meeting was held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Kiran Kumari Pasi, Director of Jharkhand Education Project, regarding the formation of welfare fund for para teachers. Para teachers, representatives of BRP-CRP and Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya Teachers Association participated in it. The representatives were told in the meeting that if they contribute Rs 507 per month to the welfare fund, then in case of retirement or death of a teacher, his family will get Rs 1 lakh. The representatives objected to this. The representatives said that the teacher retiring in the year 2052 would have accumulated more than Rs 1.75 lakh. Then on what basis will they be given Rs 1 lakh? There was no consensus in the meeting on the amount to be received from the welfare fund. Now the project will again prepare a proposal regarding this. Teacher representatives said that the amount received on the death of a teacher should be kept more than the amount received on retirement. Information about the proposal for EPF and insurance of teachers was also given in the meeting.
