Goa Sports: Aam Aadmi Party leader Valmiki Naik alleged that instead of creating quality sports facilities in the state, the BJP government is promoting favoritism and corruption in the field of sports.
He was speaking at a press conference held at the party office. Regional Vice President Sandesh Telekar Desai, Sunil Siganapurkar were present on this occasion.
Naik said, while the players in the state have potential, the BJP government has failed to provide necessary support. National sports competitions were organized by spending crores of rupees.
However, not a single sports infrastructure could be built out of this. The players faced substandard catering, transport and accommodation as the government issued the tender to a private organisation. Due to the lack of proper arrangements, many had to make their own arrangements.
When it was announced to host the National Games, there was a lack of will to take responsibility. The last-minute arrangements for the National Games were made in response to the Indian Olympic Association’s warning of a 10 crore fine.
Not only this, the top leaders of the BJP government were sidelined during the opening ceremony of the national sports tournament. Valmiki Naik also said that people have failed to understand how the BJP is dealing with influential Bahujans from its own party.
‘Available Audit Report’
AAP state vice-president Sandesh Telekar Desai has demanded an audit report on national sports events and make it available to the public.
Although the Honorable Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankad was the chief guest, the audience was very small. Telekar criticized the BJP government’s failure to arrange spectators for the closing ceremony of the national games.
