Jind: Former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav said that if we get a chance, the Agniveer system will be abolished in the country. Along with this, caste census will be conducted in the country so that even the unknown castes can get their respect and rights. Akhilesh was addressing the public service resolution rally organized at Eklavya Stadium on behalf of Meham MLA Balraj Kundu on Sunday. He said that earlier when a soldier was martyred on the border of the country, his family members were not even able to have the last darshan of the martyr. When his father Mulayam Singh Yadav became the Defense Minister of the country, he had made such arrangements that wherever a soldier is martyred anywhere in the country, his body will be taken to the family with respect. His last rites will be performed with respect, whatever expenses will be incurred for this will be borne by the government. Socialist people are moving forward with this thinking.

He said that the way the entire country wants caste census today, Samajwadi Party will also work to get it done. Today there are many castes in the country which are not even counted in the mainstream. Along with this, there are many such castes which have not been identified even till date.

India claims victory

Addressing the public service resolution rally organized by Meham MLA Balraj Kundu at Eklavya Stadium, Akhilesh Yadav said that what could be better than the victory of the alliance of opposition parties ‘India’ in the Lok Sabha elections next year. SP is part of the alliance of opposition parties ‘India’.

‘Backward people should get respect’

Kundu has formed a separate party in the name of Haryana Jansevak Party a few months ago. This development has come to light before the assembly elections to be held in Haryana next year. There is a BJP-JJP coalition government in Haryana. Akhilesh Yadav said that his party will continue to work towards ensuring that people from backward castes and classes get their rights and respect.

Advocacy for caste census

The SP chief said, ‘…today the entire country wants caste census because even after so many years of independence, there are many backward people who could not be counted and we could not bring them into the mainstream.’ He said, ‘There are many castes in the country which have not been identified. That is why the voice (of caste enumeration) which was once raised from Uttar Pradesh, is echoing in Bihar today. We know that the people of Haryana also want it (caste enumeration).

Yadav said that after the Lok Sabha elections, Samajwadi Party will ensure caste census in the country so that even the unknown castes can get respect and rights. Congress is also demanding a caste census and has promised to conduct the survey if it comes to power at the Centre. The Nitish Kumar-led Janata Dal (U) government in Bihar has already released the caste survey data before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
