Patients undergoing treatment at AIIMS have to wait for two and a quarter years for MRI. Treatment is also being affected due to delay in investigation. One such young man shared his problem on social media.

The young man wrote that his mother is being treated in the orthopedics department of AIIMS. The doctors of the department asked the patient to get an MRI of his right shoulder done. When I went to get MRI done, the date of February 2, 2026 was given. On this date the young man says that how will further treatment be done without MRI.

At the same time, other patients of the department say that due to long dates, tests have to be done outside. Let us tell you that earlier Loknayak Hospital had also given the patient a long date for MRI. In this regard, Professor Reema Dada, head of the media department of AIIMS, says that orders were given to conduct MRI 24 hours a day. After this, we are able to do 20 percent more MRIs than before but we have more number of patients.

Long wait even for ultrasound

Along with MRI, ultrasound also has to wait a long time in AIIMS. While sharing information on social media, patients said that they have to wait for two months for ultrasound. Let us tell you that AIIMS Delhi had issued an order on February 11 claiming that ultrasound of patients is being done within a day after the doctor writes it up. Avichal Sharma, resident of Mayur Vihar, Delhi, is undergoing treatment in the medicine department of AIIMS. He has been given the date of January 3, 2025 for ultrasound. Avichal also told him about the order of AIIMS administration that ultrasound examination should be done within a day but still he has been asked to come on January 3 only.
