Seeks response from Delhi government on petition for school buses
The High Court has sought response from the Delhi government on a plea seeking to provide about 360 buses to students studying in several government schools in the North-Eastern district to enable them to study in schools in other districts. NGO Social Jurist has alleged that some government schools in the north-eastern district are not providing full-time education as they function either for only two hours a day or on alternate days.
A bench of Acting Chief Justice Manmohan and Justice Mini Pushkarna said that the petitioner is demanding 367 buses only to send children to other schools, while a school building is being constructed in his own district. Children should go to school.
