Panchkula-Morni. On Monday, the brakes of a bus full of children of Guru Nanak Public School, Mullanpur, who were coming for a picnic, failed at Kali Ghati turn. Eleven children including two teachers were injured in the accident. When the brakes failed on a steep slope, the driver tried to stop the bus in a heap of mud by hitting the grill on the roadside. The bus was saved from falling into the ditch but in this attempt some passengers fell out of the bus. The injured are undergoing treatment at Panchkula Civil Hospital. Local transporter Mohan Singh Ghazhan informed the police about the matter. The police took everyone in an ambulance and took them to the health center. From there he was referred to Sector-6. There were about 30 people in the bus.
Eyewitness Mohan Singh said that the place where the accident took place is a very dangerous slope. Not every driver can control a big vehicle on this slope. Due to brake failure on a steep slope, the speed of bus number PB10 BV 6810 suddenly increased. The driver somehow stopped the bus on the side. Due to the shock, many children fell out of the bus. About 11 people have been injured in this accident. The injured have been identified as Simran (15), Sukhdeep (16), Harmanjot Kaur (15), Daldeep (17), Preneet (16), Geeta Sharma. The teacher’s hand is fractured while Vanita’s waist is injured.
No warning board on the road
No warning board has been installed by the Public Works Department at the Kalighati turn where the accident took place. There is only railing to prevent accidents, which is insufficient. Jagdeep Sharma, a villager of the area, said that the place where the accident took place is another thousands of feet deep ditch on the road. If you fall into it, you may even lose your life. In such a situation, it is mandatory to make strong security arrangements on this entire route.
