
Witness, New Delhi: Telangana has been at the top of the list of money seized in the checks that have been going on since the announcement of the five state assembly elections. The Central Election Commission (CEC) has said that Rs.1,760 crore has been seized during the inspections conducted during the elections in the states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Mizoram and Telangana. It said that the current seized wealth is 7 times more than the Rs 239.15 crore seized in 2018.
As of Monday, cash worth Rs 225.23 crores, liquor worth Rs 86.82 crores, drugs worth Rs 103.74 crores, precious metals including gold worth Rs 191.02 crores and free goods worth Rs 52.41 crores worth Rs 659.20 crores have been seized in Telangana. CEC revealed. Apart from freebies, cash, liquor, drugs and gold seized by the authorities, Telangana is at the top compared to Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Mizoram.
The EC said Rs 650.70 crore was seized in Rajasthan, Rs 323.70 crore in Madhya Pradesh, Rs 76.9 crore in Chhattisgarh and Rs 49.6 crore in Mizoram. The confiscation of items related to freebies used to influence voters is high in the states of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Officials seized freebies worth Rs.341.24 crores in Rajasthan and Rs.120.53 crores in Madhya Pradesh. This time, EC stated that the Election Seizure Management System has facilitated coordination between enforcement agencies.
