Alappuzha: CPM General Secretary Sitaram Yachuri said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is creating two Indias. A shining India for friends and an India of suffering for the poor. Modi, who said that he will seize black money and give it to the people, is now buying black money in the form of electoral bonds. He was speaking at the LDF election campaign meeting.
Modi says that it is the amrita period in BJP rule. When he crossed the ocean and took the nectar, there was poison with him. The bad guys got the nectar. Poison is for the good. Great efforts were made to recover that nectar. Amrit is now in the hands of the bad guys. This election is a fight to reclaim it. This is a time of massive corruption. BJP has promised to give airports and seaports in exchange for electoral bonds. Where does this money come from? BJP is looking to make looting legal. Left parties opposed it. Only the left didn’t buy bonds.
Whenever the country and secularism were in danger, Kerala has shown the way. In 2004, LDF won 18 seats here. It was a decision to have a secular government and with it a strong left wing. At that time, the Left had a total of 61 seats in the country. Out of which 57 MPs have defeated the Congress. Yet they supported the UPA government. That is the guarantee. The Employment Guarantee Act, Right to Information Act, Food Security Act and many measures to ensure the rights of the people came about because of the intervention of the left wing. The situation is still the same.
The UDF, which says it is fighting against Modi, criticizes the LDF and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. This is opportunism. The same goes for saying that BJP and LDF are in agreement. We have a view against the Citizenship Act. We opposed it in Parliament and outside. Also fighting in court. Even when Article 370 was revoked overnight in Jammu and Kashmir and the leaders were jailed, it was the Left who opposed it. When the authorities allowed the accused to escape in the Bilquis Banu case, the CPM went to the Supreme Court. The culprits were jailed.
But where is the Congress on all these issues? Not even seen to support. They remain silent on many of Modi’s anti-people policies. If KC Venugopal wins Alappuzha, BJP will get Rajya Sabha seat in Rajasthan. Even so, the Congress position will benefit the BJP. There is no guarantee that all the winning Congress MPs will be with that party. Yechury also said that those who say that Pinarayi Vijayan is silent against Modi should remember that Pinarayi was in jail during Emergency.
