Thiruvananthapuram: People of Kerala have collected an amount of Rs 35 crore to save a person who was imprisoned in Saudi jail for the last 18 years. It may not be believed at first glance, but by showing solidarity, the people of Kerala have made the adage of filling the pot drop by drop true. After collecting this huge amount, the release of Kozhikode resident Abdul Rahim will now be ensured. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has praised this unity of the people. This is now being discussed through Real Kerala Story. Along with Muslims, Hindus have also donated money for the release of Abdul Rahim.Punishment given for the death of a disabled person
Abdul Rahim, a resident of Kozhikode, had moved to Saudi Arabia in 2006 to work as a driver. When he went to Saudi, he got a job as a driver there. Rahim got the job of taking his disabled son to the house of Al Shahri, a big rich man there. It had just been a month since I started working that one day Rahim had gone out to take Anas for a walk. Then during the journey Anas became agitated. While handling the child, Rahim’s hand touched the tab around his neck. Anas became unconscious and later died. A court in Riyadh found Rahim guilty of murder and sentenced him to death. Rahim did not get relief even in the next court. The legal aid committee formed to get the release of jailed Abdul Rahim got success in December 2021. In this, Al Shahri’s family asked for 15 million Saudi Riyals (about Rs 35 crore) under the blood money deal.

Hindus also came forward along with Muslims
K Suresh, head of the legal committee formed to save Rahim, planned to collect funds through crowdfunding. He started it in the manner suggested by the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML). An IT firm created an app. Crowdfunding was started before Ramadan. Muslims donate a lot during Ramadan. In such a situation, an amount of Rs 1 crore came in the first 9 minutes. After this further efforts were made. Along with Muslims, Hindus also supported the campaign of ‘Save Abdul Rahim’ and collected an amount of Rs 35 crore.
