Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Santhosh Ja has said that India and Sri Lanka have started the construction of a land bridge.
He said this at an event held at a private guest house in Colombo.
This land route will help to improve tourism between the two countries and will lead to a change in the relationship between the two countries.
Tourist arrivals
For Sri Lanka, the High Commissioner noted that the development of tourism is a key objective of the two countries, and it has been an important source of economic activity.
President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have pledged to promote Buddhist tourism and the Ramayana Path in both countries in a vision document released in July 2023 when they held a summit in New Delhi.
The High Commissioner also mentioned that India is already contributing massively to Sri Lanka’s tourist arrivals.
