Rebel BJP leader K.S., who is contesting the Lok Sabha elections as an independent candidate in Karnataka. Eshwarappa was suspended from the party on Monday for six years.

An order in this regard was issued by the BJP’s disciplinary committee following Eshwarappa’s decision not to withdraw his nomination from the high-profile Shivamogga Lok Sabha constituency. From this seat, BJP has fielded former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa’s son B.Y. Ticket has been given to Raghavendra.

Reacting to the suspension, Eshwarappa said, I will win the elections and return to BJP. The father-son duo has been spreading lies since the beginning. Yediyurappa had claimed that I would attend Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s program in Shivamogga, which I did not do. Later they claimed that I would not file nomination, but I went ahead. I have the support of Congress and JD-S.”

Late former Chief Minister S. Bangarappa’s daughter Geeta Shivarajkumar is contesting from Shivamogga on Congress ticket this time. She is the sister of state education minister Madhu Bangarappa, while her husband is Kannada superstar Shivarajkumar.
