In the hearing of the petition, the court said, it is often believed that hookahs do not cause much harm, due to which hookah bars are running indiscriminately and a large number of young population also uses these products. However, studies show that smoking hookah may increase the risk of health problems like hepatitis and ulcers. Hookah pipes are shared in a group which can also lead to the risk of developing many types of diseases.
Researchers believe that hookah is as dangerous as cigarettes and other smoking products and people need to take special precautions regarding its consumption.

Studies continue to warn that all types of smoking products are harmful to overall health. In hookah, a specially prepared tobacco mixture is used for smoking. Studies show that its smoke contains the same toxic components as cigarette smoke, such as nicotine, tar and heavy metals, which can lead to lung cancer, damage to arteries, metabolic problems and even ulcers.
In view of the ill effects caused by hookah and e-cigarettes, they have been banned in many parts.

All types of smoking products are harmful, the American Lung Association reports.
At least 82 toxic chemicals and carcinogens have been identified in hookah smoke. Even though hookah smoke passes through water, it does not eliminate the dangerous, addictive chemicals released from tobacco. Burning the charcoal used to heat hookahs also emits carbon monoxide, metals and other harmful chemicals, which can also pose a health risk.
