Patna: To defeat four-time MLA and five-time MP Rakesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav, who was contesting as an independent candidate in Purnia, RJD leader and former Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav made a wonderful appeal to the people. Simply put, he appealed to the people to vote for NDA.

What has Tejashwi Yadav said?

Tejashwi Yadav said that if you cannot vote for ‘India’ candidate Bima Bharti, then vote for the NDA candidate. He did not take the name, but the target was Pappu Yadav. Tejashwi expressed his views in his context. Pappu Yadav has made the election fight triangular in Purnia ground. Pappu Yadav also has faith in the same voters on whom RJD candidate Bima Bharti is claiming. That means both the candidates are dependent on Muslims, Yadavs and backward and extremely backward castes. Pappu is also getting a lot of support from Yadav community. Muslims also seem divided into two parts. Obviously, if the opposition’s votes are divided, NDA candidate Santosh Kushwaha will benefit from it. Santosh is in the field for the third time. His strength can be gauged from the fact that when JDU separated from BJP and made him its candidate in 2014, he hoisted the flag of victory despite the Modi wave. His victory the second time became easier because JDU had joined hands with BJP.

Why does Tejashwi hate Pappu?

Pappu Yadav continued winning Assembly and Lok Sabha elections on RJD, Samajwadi Party and LJP tickets till 2014. When he opposed Lalu, RJD expelled him from the party. After that, in 2015, Pappu formed his Jan Adhikar Party and fielded 60 candidates in the assembly elections held in the same year. Then JDU and RJD were contesting the elections under the banner of Grand Alliance. Obviously, this would have increased Lalu’s anger towards Pappu to the seventh heaven. After the announcement of 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Pappu Yadav started trying to grow closer to the Lalu family. He merged his party with Congress to join Indi Alliance. When Pappu released the pictures of his meeting with Lalu and Tejashwi on social media and started calling Lalu his guardian, it felt as if the ice of hatred had melted. But, in ticket distribution, Lalu indicated that there will be no reduction in hatred. Lalu did not give Purnia seat to Congress from where he was determined to contest the elections. RJD made Bima Bharti its candidate from Purnia.

Pappu doesn’t like Lalu

In fact, despite not being an MP, Pappu Yadav never lagged behind in public service. Pappu has created his own identity in Bihar. They are not limited to Yadavs only. His efforts have always been to help every community. People of Bihar are well aware of Pappu’s activism during disasters. He also has a good hold in Yadav society. It is also known to everyone that apart from his family, Lalu never allowed any other leader of his community to stand on an equal footing. Pappu Yadav has also become a victim of this strategy of Lalu. Lalu does not want to give a chance to anyone to stand equal to his son Tejashwi. Kanhaiya Kumar, a victim of this strategy of Lalu, who had contested from Begusarai on CPI ticket in the last elections and now joins Congress, was also cleverly thrown out of Bihar. To cut Kanhaiya’s cards, Lalu had already given his favorite Begusarai seat to CPI. As a result, Congress had to adjust for Kanhaiya Kumar in Delhi.
