Aam Aadmi Party leader and Delhi government minister Saurabh Bhardwaj has written a letter to Delhi LG regarding the MCD Mayor election. In his letter, he has alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party is trying to manipulate the MCD Mayoral elections by appointing councillors. Traditionally, the outgoing mayor presides over new elections. Saurabh raised the question that why there is so much secrecy in the appointment of the presiding officer for the mayor election?
Saurabh Bhardwaj in his letter to the LG gave evidence that every year, the mayoral election file is sent through the elected government, but this time the CS completely bypassed the elected government. CS has deliberately chosen to bypass the elected government.
The AAP minister asked the LG to return the file and take action on the matter as per constitutional rules. He has requested LG to take action against CS for willful and persistent misconduct. Saurabh Bhardwaj cited the Supreme Court’s directives that the Chief Secretary has to follow the instructions of the elected government in those cases which extend his executive powers.

Congress will unconditionally support AAP in Delhi Mayoral elections
The Congress will openly support the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the April 26 Mayor and Deputy Mayor elections in Delhi. Congress will support AAP unconditionally. Therefore, Congress has not set any condition against Aam Aadmi Party. Let it be known that the mayoral election process will start from 26th April at 11 am. 250 councilors from MCD, 7 MPs from Delhi, 3 Rajya Sabha members and 14 MLAs vote in the mayoral elections.
