Himanta Biswa Sharma sworn in as the Chief Minister of Assam.
In the recent assembly elections in Assam, the Bharatiya Janata Party won 60 of the total 126 seats and its allies 15 seats. The BJP retained the rule. Sarbananda Sona, who was already the chief minister, and Himanta Biswa Sharma, who formed the North-East Democratic Alliance and played an important role in the growth of the BJP, faced competition for the post of chief minister. Because of this competition, both of them went to Delhi yesterday to join the BJP. Chairman JP Natta met Union Home Minister Amit Shah. After the smooth outcome of this, the BJP held yesterday in Guwahati. Himanta Biswa Sharma was selected for the post of Chief Minister in the meeting of MLAs. Sarbananda Sonawal, who has resigned from the post of Chief Minister, has sent his resignation letter to the Governor. Following this, Himanta Biswa Sharma took oath as the new Chief Minister of Assam today. Governor Jagadish Mukhi administered the oath of office to him. In the swearing-in ceremony, BJP President JP Natta, General Secretary Santosh and others participated. Earlier, Himanta Biswa Sharma visited important temples including Kamakya Devi temple today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with Union Home Minister Amit Shah have congratulated the new Chief Minister of Assam.
