Agartala: Tripura CPI(M) secretary Jitendra Choudhary has claimed that the people of the state, especially the indigenous communities, have rejected the BJP.
He said the people’s ‘rejection’ of the BJP was reflected in the party’s Khumulwang rally which was addressed by BJP national president JP Nadda during his visit to the state.

Tripura CPI(M) leader Jitendra Choudhary claimed, “If a senior leader of such a stature of a national political party comes, he usually addresses a public meeting at Swami Vivekananda Stadium but this time the tradition has been broken by the BJP.” He selected the area at Khumulwang’s motor-stand. Before his arrival, BJP made enough campaign efforts as we came to know that one lakh people will attend the public meeting. Within days the number dropped to 50,000 but in reality it was a complete flop show. There were only empty chairs to hear the BJP chief’s address.

He said that the people of tribal areas of Tripura have taught the BJP the right lesson by not participating in the rally.
The whole market looked deserted. When BJP started its rally it was completely closed. The BJP national president should tell Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah about his experience in Khumulwang.
“They should realize how people have started distancing themselves from their misleading politics,” he claimed.

Choudhary also hit out at the BJP national president’s statement and said, “Before his public meeting, Nadda addressed a press conference and kept saying things which had nothing to do with the truth to show the state government in good light.” .
All the new projects or schemes which are being inaugurated now or are giving useful results to the people of the state. were started by the previous Left Front government. We do not disagree that projects are completed when BJP is in power but all these projects have been approved because of the efforts and bargaining of the central government.
Choudhary also criticized Nadda’s statement on political violence.
“The culture of political violence supported by the BJP has returned to them from another political class. We do not support this kind of political vendetta but Nadda’s claims were thwarted within a few hours.”
