Delhi: The National Crime Records Bureau’s report for the year 2021 says that religious riots in BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh are very few, that is, only one religious riot took place in 2021.
Similarly, it has been reported that the number of crimes against children and women has decreased compared to previous years.
According to a report released by the National Crime Records Bureau, only one religious riot has taken place in UP in 2021.
Over 100 communal riots have taken place in Maharashtra. Jharkhand 77, Bihar 51, Haryana 40 religious riots have taken place.

The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) records the cases reported in all the states and union territories in India under Indian Penal Code, Special Act and Local Acts. NCRP has been publishing annual reports on incidents like murders, accidents and riots across the country.
Crimes of murder
Accordingly, the details of crime cases reported in 2021, event-wise and state-wise have been released. In the last year alone, a total of 60,96,310 crime incidents have taken place across the country. Of these, 1,49,404 crimes against children have been committed across the country. In 2021, the total number of homicides across the country was 29,272. Of these, Uttar Pradesh had the highest number of murders at 3,717, Bihar at 2,799 and Maharashtra at 2,330.
Uttar Pradesh is considered to be the state with the most religious riots in North India. Major cities of the largest state of Uttar Pradesh such as Barnagar, Aligarh, Meerut, Varanasi, Moradabad and Bulandshagar have been known for religious riots for many years. But in 2021, only one communal riot was reported in Uttar Pradesh.

Other types of crimes
NCRP data shows that crimes against women and children have come down significantly in Uttar Pradesh. Accordingly, 18,943 cases were registered for crimes against children in Uttar Pradesh in 2019. It has decreased to 16,838 in 2021. Crimes against women decreased from 59,853 in 2019 to 56,083 in 2021.

According to the NCRB data for 2021, 378 cases of communal violence were registered across India, of which only one case was registered in Uttar Pradesh.
