Patna: RJD leader accused in kidnapping case Bihar Law Minister Karthik Kumar resigned from his post on Wednesday night. To this extent, Karthik Kumar has sent his resignation to the Governor. On the other hand, as the minister was accused in a kidnapping case in 2014, the opposition made huge protests across the state.
In the wake of these protests, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar removed Karthik Kumar from the responsibilities of the law minister and assigned him the sugarcane department which is a low priority. However, as the agitations continued, Karthik Kumar resigned from his ministerial post within hours of allocating the new department. With the resignation of Karthik Kumar, Revenue Minister Alok Kumar Mehta has been given additional responsibilities of sugarcane department.
It is known that JDU leader Nitish Kumar, who withdrew from the BJP alliance in Bihar, formed the government with RJD led by Lalu Prasad Yadav. Karthik Kumar is MLC from RJD. RJD chief Tejashwi Yadav gave him a place in the cabinet as Bhumihar, who is politically powerful in Bihar, belongs to the upper caste.
