Delhi Police has changed its strategy after the order after the country’s Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Commissioner Sanjay Arora has issued a standing order in this regard on Tuesday evening after the Union Home Minister’s visit to the Police Headquarters.

As per this order, one forensic mobile van will be deployed in each district of Delhi. This van will be fully equipped with scientific equipment. Each van will have details of sufficient number of forensic assistants. These vans will go to the places where the case is to be registered and in which the sentence is more than six years. The order stated that the van would not be under the administrative control of the Delhi Police, but under the control of an independent unit responsible for the court.

It has been said in the order that whenever any incident is reported and the Investigating Officer feels that the case is likely to attract punishment of more than six years or if some forensic evidence is to be taken from the spot, the van should be sent to the spot. But will be called. For this the investigating officer will make a formal request to the van.

In-charge will inspect the spot and collect evidence. He will document all the evidence properly with the help of his team including packing and labeling. If the forensic van is carrying all the samples for further examination and analysis, the investigating officer will record his statement and mention the same in the case diary.

All supervisory officers or officers of the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) or above shall personally ensure that the forensic mobile team visits the spot in every incident of a sentence of more than six years. It will be his responsibility.
