Government intervened in Vizhinjam; 335 families will be paid a monthly rent of Rs
The cabinet has decided to pay house rent of Rs 5500 per month to those living in camps in Vizhinjath. The flat will be built on the spot found in Muttatha. The government’s announcement is part of its promise to implement puradhivasam before Onam while the struggle against Vizhinjam port continues. The government will provide Rs 5500 per month to 335 families living in the camps to shift to rented houses. Flat construction will be completed in time on eight acres of land found in Muttatha. Tenders will be invited from manufacturers for this. The cabinet has also decided to implement the rehabilitation package quickly.
But the Port Strike Committee is adamant that the Chief Minister despises the coastal fishermen. The strike committee says that who will pay the advance amount for renting the house and will proceed with the strike. The strike committee has made it clear that the strike will be intensified and will not withdraw from the strike without stopping the construction of the port. Fishermen of various parishes besieged the Poowar police station in protest against police beating of protesting priests. The torch lit protest started from Karumkulam church and ended in front of Poowar station.
