Kochi: The ringleader of the drug distribution gang from Bengaluru to various places in Kerala has been arrested. Amal Nair (39) was arrested by the Cheranellur police.

According to the police, Amal was arrested while registering a case and investigating after 18 grams of methamphetamine was found in a parcel envelope sent to a leading courier service in Cheranallur with a fake address. According to the police, the customers used the mobile number and tracking ID to enter the fake address in the courier sent from Bengaluru and directly reached the courier office and received the parcel. In this way, on August 18 of this month, the employees who were suspicious of the fake address written on the parcel that arrived at the Cheranallur courier office informed the Cheranallur police. According to the police, 18 grams of methamphetamine, which is a drug, was hidden inside the parcel.

Secret information was received that drugs were being delivered to Kochi by courier with fake addresses from different states of India. Based on this, the police first arrested Kayamkulam native Ajmal (33), a drug dealer who came to receive the parcel, in an investigation conducted under the supervision of the Kochi City Police Chief, focusing on the CCTV footage of those who came to receive the parcel at the courier company and the mobile number found on the parcel cover. He is accused in several criminal cases. Based on the information received from him, Sameer (36), a resident of Kasarkot Patna, who came to receive the parcel, was arrested from Kasarkot Chantera area.

He was in jail for a year and a half in connection with a drug case at the Ernakulam Central Police Station. Sameer was released from jail two months ago. According to the police, after a detailed investigation, Amal Nair (38), a resident of Ernakulam Panambilly Nagar, who was sending parcels from Bengaluru to Kochi for drug distribution, was caught from a luxury flat in Electronic City, Bengaluru.

He and his wife have been questioned by the police in the drug dealing case related to Hotel No. 18. The police also said that Amal Nair admitted during interrogation that he turned to drug sales after running a hotel chain ‘Pappadavada’ in Ernakulam. At the time of his arrest, parcel covers prepared for selling drugs to different places in Kerala were also seized.

Police have received information that Amal Nair was selling drugs under the guise of organizing night parties with the participation of models in various hotels in Bengaluru city. Also, the police have received information that Amal Nair was distributing drugs at night parties in various hotels in Kochi.
The police have received evidence that Amal Nair has sold drugs like this before. The police also said that they have started an investigation into the couriers.

In order to find out the source of the drugs, the police have started an investigation focusing on the Nigerian resident of Bengaluru who was supplying the drugs to him. The police have received information that he has links with the international drug mafia. On the instructions of Kochi City Police Deputy Commissioner Sasidharan S and Ernakulam Central ACP C Jayakumar, the police team led by Cheranallur Inspector KG Vipinkumar arrested the accused.
