Earlier, the government issued orders that all the teachers working in the government schools in Andhra Pradesh should register their attendance through Face App. This policy has been implemented since then. It has been clarified that except for private and unaided schools, all others should attend through this app. Around two lakh teachers are working in many schools across the state. Along with teacher’s attendance, most of the teachers (Govt Teachers in AP) have downloaded the app with the instructions of the authorities to put students’ attendance in this app. But the teachers say that if everyone attends at the same time in the morning, there is a problem with the server. Everyone is complaining that there is a technical problem due to stress on the server due to attendance at the same time. However, teachers’ unions are strongly opposed to face attendance. There is a risk of leaking all the personal details through the app.
They felt that they had told them to download this app on their phones in the past and that the officials were not listening to them, saying that there would be a problem with their personal data. It is clear that they are strongly opposed to the decision to implement it and this approach is not correct. He said that the government is dragging this matter till it ends and the officials are also acting with a stubborn attitude. They also said that they strongly condemn the way in which cases of attack, false cases and fabrications are being made against teachers.
From the beginning, teachers have been opposing the system of attendance through Face App. Andhra Pradesh State Education Minister Botsa Satyanarayana’s talks on their demands failed. In the discussions held with the minister, the leaders of the teachers’ unions said that they would not agree to face attendance on their own phones. They expressed concern that personal information is leaking out if they download the app on their smart phones. They said that they have no objection if the government itself gives them phones with mobile data. The minister assured them that even a minute late after 9 o’clock in the morning, the leave rule will be removed and training on e-attendance will be given for 15 days. However, teachers’ unions opposed the government’s decision.
