The death of Congress Interim President Sonia Gandhi’s mother Paula Maino (90) due to ill health has caused great sadness among the family. Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, who are traveling abroad, attended the funeral ceremony held the day before yesterday.
Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said, “Sonia Gandhi’s mother, Paula Maino, passed away last Saturday at her home in Italy. The last rites took place on 30-08-2022,” he tweeted yesterday.
In this situation, many people including President Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Modi are condoling the death of Sonia Gandhi’s mother.
In this regard, Murmu said on his Twitter page, “I am sorry for the demise of Paula Maino, mother of Sonia Gandhi. My heartfelt condolences to Sonia Gandhi and her family,” he tweeted.
Subsequently, Prime Minister Modi said, “Deep condolence on the death of Sonia Gandhi’s mother. May his soul rest in peace. At this time of grief, my thoughts are with his family,” he condoled on Twitter. Also, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Khelat, former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Umar Abdullah and many others have expressed their condolences.
Meanwhile, it is noted that Sonia, Rahul and Priyanka participated in the online virtual meeting held last Sunday regarding the election schedule for the post of Congress president.
