Chennai:

The process of adding Aadhaar number to the voter ID card across the country has been going on since August 1. This work is also going on in Tamil Nadu.

Accordingly, the Election Commission had announced that the voters can fill up the Aadhaar details in Form 6B and submit it to the respective Polling Station Officer directly or online through NVSP, VHA.

It has been announced that the process of adding Aadhaar number to the voter list will start from 1.8.2022 to 31.3.2023 (8 months). In many places, the polling officers come directly to the house, give the application form and fill in the details of the voters.

Although this work was initially slow in Tamil Nadu, now there is awareness among the public and more people are linking Aadhaar number.

There are currently 6 crore 21 lakh 72 thousand 922 voters in Tamil Nadu. Out of this 1 crore 66 lakh 48 thousand 608 people have registered their Aadhaar number to be included in the voter list.

It is 27.78 percent. Chief Electoral Officer of Tamil Nadu Satyapratha Saku said that while only 6.08 percent of voters had registered two weeks ago, now an additional 21 percent have applied to link their Aadhaar number to the voter list.

And he says, ‘More than 90 percent of these people have registered through polling officers. A special camp will be held from 9th November to 9th December to add names to the voter list. Then there is a chance for more people to add Aadhaar number to the voter list’, he said.
