The Chennai Meteorological Department had informed that some districts including Chennai are likely to receive rain in the next 3 hours. In this situation, the sky was cloudy around 10.30 am. Later light rain was reported at a few places. Light rain is falling in Koyambedu, Vadapalani, MMDA, Ashok Nagar, D. Nagar, Kodambakkam and Ekkaduthangal areas. Due to this, there is some difficulty for the motorists traveling on two-wheelers.

Apart from Chennai, widespread heavy rainfall occurred in various districts of Tamil Nadu. In Thiruvarur district, Gudavasal, Nannilam, Koothanallur, Koradacherry, Muthuppet, etc. received rain for the second day. Due to this, holidays have been given to schools and colleges. Due to the heavy rains in Cuddalore, water is overflowing in Tenpenna and Kollidam rivers. The maximum rainfall of 106 mm was recorded in Lower Seruvai region. But the district administration has advised not to go near the river. Veeranam Lake has reached its full capacity of 47.5 feet due to continuous rains. In this case, the farmers are worried because the paddy crop ready for harvest has been damaged in areas like Phetakkudi, Vridthachalam, Pennadam.

Heavy rains in the Kadampur hills of Erode district have submerged the Magkampalayam flyover. As a result of which traffic has been cut off for 3 days, the farmers are suffering from not being able to sell the produce produced in the area. Government bus service from Kadampur to Magkampalayam was canceled so students did not go to school.

It rained in Sirkazhi, Kollidam, Thiruvengadu, Bhoombukar, Vaideeswaran Kovil areas of Mayiladuthurai district. The maximum rainfall of 64 mm was recorded in Sirkhaji. A holiday has been declared for Mayiladuthurai district schools and colleges today due to continuous rain. Like Tamil Nadu, Puducherry is also experiencing widespread rains.
