State Bureau, Dehradun. The BJP organization and the state government are preparing to take a decisive step in the matter of irregularities in recruitment in the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has written a letter to Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri Bhushan, requesting him to conduct an inquiry into the disputed recruitments in the Vidhan Sabha and cancel all such appointments if irregularities are found.
Organization can take any decision on Prem Chand Agarwal
On the other hand, former Speaker of the Assembly and Cabinet Minister Prem Chand Agarwal can present his stand before the BJP High Command in Delhi on Friday regarding the appointments made during his tenure. It is believed that the BJP organization can take a decision on Prem Chand Agarwal.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the state government is taking strict steps on the policy of zero tolerance on corruption. Dhami’s image as Chief Minister has been spotless, so it was believed that he would soon take strict action against the irregularities in the appointments made in the assembly.
Chief Minister Dhami sent a letter to the Speaker of the Assembly
On Thursday late evening, Chief Minister Dhami sent a letter to the Speaker of the Assembly. In this, the Chief Minister has said that the Legislative Assembly is a dignified autonomous constitutional body. Maintaining the dignity of this institution has been the top priority of all of us. In his letter, he has requested to cancel all the disputed appointments by conducting a high-level inquiry, as well as to make provision for fair and transparent appointments in the Assembly Secretariat in future.
The BJP high command has also taken cognizance of this matter. BJP’s national vice president and Uttarakhand in-charge Dushyant Kumar Gautam himself is monitoring this episode. In a conversation with Jagran, he said that complete information is being taken regarding this matter.
The Speaker of the previous Assembly and presently Cabinet Minister Prem Chand Agarwal will represent Uttarakhand in the meeting of the Chief Minister’s Council in Delhi on Friday. Sources say that the BJP high command has asked Agarwal to present his side on Friday in Delhi on the recruitment issue. After this the party can take some tough and decisive step.
However, Prem Chand Agarwal in a conversation with Jagran on Thursday denied that he has been summoned by the high command to Delhi. He said that the Chief Minister has asked for any inquiry into the Vidhan Sabha recruitment and he is also in favor of it.
According to highly placed sources, the disputed 72 appointments made in the previous assembly can be canceled. Apart from this, some promotions at higher level are also in the midst of controversy. These include giving several promotions to officers in a very short period.
