Ahmedabad: Gujarat assembly elections will be held this year. It is in this order that the politics there are currently raging. While the BJP is trying to get the seat of power once again, the AAP, which is in full swing with its unquestionable victory in the Punjab Assembly elections after Delhi, is also moving forward by writing strategies to get the power in any way. It is in this sequence that the war of words between the leaders of these two parties is increasing. The Gujarat Police has registered an FIR against state Aam Aadmi Party chief Gopal Italia for allegedly making controversial remarks against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders CR Patil and Minister of State for Home Affairs Harsh Sanghavi at a rally held in Surat.
The FIR was registered based on a complaint filed by Surat-based businessman Pratapbhai Chodwadia, said an official at the Umra police station where the complaint was lodged. An AAP official said Italia held the rally after a group of around 10 people attacked Gujarat AAP leader Manoj Sorathia in Surat city on August 30. It was during these speeches that Italia was accused of making controversial remarks against BJP leaders. Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP blamed the ruling BJP for the attack on Sorathia. The BJP dismissed the AAP’s attack as a drama to garner public sympathy before the elections. Gujarat BJP spokesperson Rutwij Patel said after the attack that the people named as accused in the FIR were actually victims of AAP violence outside their office.
“While the BJP workers were standing at a distance, AAP workers suddenly approached them in large numbers and attacked our men. BJP’s Dinesh Desai, Kishan Desai and Karsan Sagathia were seriously injured due to this. They are now being treated at a private hospital,” said Patel. Arvind Kejriwal, who went on a two-day visit to Gujarat in the wake of the elections, on Saturday participated in a door-to-door campaign in Rajkot and announced several promises of the Aam Aadmi Party to the local people of Rajkot. Criticisms were heaped on the BJP government in this order. “This is the attack you do when you lose. BJP has sensed its defeat. I want to tell them that till now they are dealing with Congress, but we are not Congress. We believe in Sardar Patel and Bhagat Singh. We will not be afraid, we will fight,” said Kejriwal on Saturday, referring to the attack on Sorathia.
Dhima expressed confidence that his party has conducted a survey in Surat and out of 12 seats, AAP is winning in seven seats. Kejriwal on Saturday announced that after the formation of the AAP government in Gujarat, each panchayat will receive ₹10 lakh directly from the state government for development works. He also said that once his party comes to power in Gujarat, a sarpanch will be given a salary of ₹10,000 per month. “Today Gujarat is demanding a complete change. We won the Delhi elections. For the first time, 28 seats were won and the government was formed. People supported us. Later we were given 63 seats. Even if the elections are held today, people are happy with us if we get more than 65 seats in Delhi. “BJP ruled Gujarat for 27 years, but now people are showing anger against BJP. People of Gujarat see that good work has been done in Delhi and good work has started in Punjab, so now people are asking for change in Gujarat too,” said Kejriwal.
