NEET | A huge increase in the number of students appearing for the NEET exam in the local language; Gujarat ahead

According to reports, there has been a significant increase in the number of STUDENTS opting for regional language for the National Eligibility Test (NEET), the nation’s biggest entrance exam. Reports also suggest that the number of students who appeared for the NEET exam this year reached a record.

18.7 lakh students appeared for the NEET exam this year. Out of this, a total of 1,37,492 students appeared in regional languages. In 2021, it was 1,20,616. It is evident from these figures that there has been a significant increase in the number of students appearing for the examination in the local language. In 2022, 1,476,024 people took the exam in English. 2,58,827 candidates appeared in Hindi as well. Students appearing for the NEET exam have the option of choosing any one of 13 languages. Regional languages ​​sanctioned by the examination board are Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu and English.

Gujarati is the leading language in this count. More than 49,000 people wrote NEET in Gujarati language. Next is Bengali. 42000 children appeared for the exam in Bengali language. The number of children who have chosen Tamil language is more than 31000. 1510 people wrote the exam in Malayalam. The least number of children appeared in Punjabi language.

This year, out of 18,72,343 registered candidates, 17,64,571 appeared for the NEET exam. The number of girls registered for medical admission is also higher than that of boys this time. Candidates who appeared for the medical entrance exam can check the score through the official site neet.nta.nic.in.

429160 boys and 563902 girls have cleared the NEET exam this year. This time a girl named Tanshika, a Rajasthani student from Haryana, has got the first rank.

The NEET exam was held on July 17 last month. A re-examination was also conducted for around 250 students on September 4. In 2021, 15.44 lakh students participated in the examination conducted in 3,858 centers. At least 8.70 students qualified for higher studies that time. 2.5 lakh students registered more than last year.

With the advent of the NEET exam, the medical entrance exams across the country were being unified. Considering the opposition of states including Tamil Nadu, the Supreme Court canceled NEET in 2014 but it was reinstated in 2016. The NEET exam, which was conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education, has been conducted by the National Testing Agency since 2019.
