The Foreign Minister shared a memorable anecdote with Prime Minister Modi. He said, when Afghanistan was attacked by the Taliban and a campaign was being carried out to evacuate Indian students, PM Narendra Modi called me in the middle of the night and directly asked, are you awake? I answered yes. After this the Prime Minister asked, you are watching TV, what is going on there? So I said help is coming soon.

Recalling this conversation, the Foreign Minister said, the Prime Minister said, call me when help arrives. I said sir it will take two or three more hours. I will inform your office when it is done. After this PM Modi loudly said, no…call me directly. External Affairs Minister Jaishankar praised that this is a unique quality in a Prime Minister.
On this occasion, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar hosted the tenth meeting of the Tripartite Ministerial Commission of IBSA. He reviewed the process of IBSA and appreciated its work. The meeting was also attended by Brazilian Foreign Minister Carlos Franca and South African Health Minister Joe Fahla. According to a joint statement issued by IBSA, the Ministers condemned the terrorist attacks taking place across the world. The Minister expressed his solidarity in the fight against terrorism by taking the initiative to destroy the safe havens of terrorists.
