Shimla, State Bureau. ED Raid in Himachal, The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has taken strict action in the illegal mining case in Una, Himachal. In this regard, raids have been conducted at Una, Mohali, Panchkula and other locations of M/s Lakhwinder Singh Stone Crusher, Manav Khanna, Neeraj Prabhakar, Vishal alias Vicky. During this, many important documents including cash worth Rs 15.35 lakh have been seized. ED’s investigation so far has revealed that the accused have done illegal business of Rs 35 crore in Swan river. This investigation has been done in relation to the case registered by Una Police last year. Himachal Police urges ED to investigate money laundering angle. There was a raid a few days ago as well. Now this is the second time such action has been taken. Himachal DGP Sanjay Kundu also confirmed the action. He had said that the police would tighten the noose on the mining mafia.
What was found in the investigation
The ED investigation has revealed that illegal mining was being done on a large scale at many places in Una district of Himachal Pradesh. Illegal mining included illegal mining of sand from the river bed and stone mining from the quarry. The modalities adopted by individuals included excavation of sand and gravel beyond the leased mining area, digging more than the prescribed depth of mining. The search also revealed that illegal mining was done outside the lease area as well. Illegally mined excess sand, gravel and stone were being suspiciously transported without payment of requisite royalty/taxes to the State Government. Besides, non-adherence to environmental norms was also causing environmental damage on a large scale. A joint survey is being conducted of the areas where mining has taken place to ascertain the extent of damage caused and the extent of illegal mining.

In the search of ED, various incriminating documents, digital devices, property documents were recovered at Rs 15.37 lakh. Preliminary analysis of the documents shows that the accused have illegally mined Rs 35 crore. Earlier, a businessman of Panchayat Chahatgarh and Enforcement Directorate had raided in Burari, Punjab. Both the persons do mining in Una by taking open lease. The lease of the person from Punjab is in Khanpur of Una and the other person is in partnership with someone in Chahatgarh.
