Chandigarh. UT Administration has released Electric Vehicle Policy. In the policy made by the Chandigarh Renewable Energy and Science and Technology Promotion Society (Crest), a provision has also been made to encourage the youth starting up in the EV sector. Under this, the administration will also help the first 10 startups in payment of patent fees along with infrastructure incentives.
According to the EV policy of the administration, the benefit of this scheme will be available only to those startups who will get their startup registered in Chandigarh. An administration official said that startups can play a big role in the field of EV, so provision has been made to promote them. In the infrastructure incentive category, the first 10 startups with zero emission mobility will be given a grant of Rs 3,000 per seat on a monthly basis, subject to a maximum of Rs 18,000 per month. Apart from this, the benefit of payment of patent fees will also be available. The first 10 startups will be paid up to 50 percent of the fees and other expenses for nationally and internationally registered patents. For national, it will be maximum Rs 2 lakh and for international this amount will be up to maximum Rs 5 lakh.
Startups should have an office in Chandigarh
To take advantage of the scheme, startups need to be registered with Startup India with a valid certificate. The startup must have a registered office in Chandigarh. Only those startups who have products or services related to the electric vehicle sector and eco-system can get the benefit of the scheme. The policy will also encourage the reuse of EV batteries that are out of date. Efforts will be made to set up recycling businesses in association with batteries.
