Chandigarh, Jagran Correspondent: IIT Mumbai professors are out on a mission to make the youth aware of solar energy these days all over India. In this stop, Professor Chetan Singh Solanki reached the University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIT), Panjab University on Saturday with a special bus. To save the rapidly deteriorating environment around the world, Prof. Solanki has been running awareness campaigns for the past several years.

Pro. Solanki has a different way of making people aware of solar energy. He has vowed not to go home from 2020 to 30 and stay in a special solar bus prepared for himself. Very simple Prof. Chetan tells that no matter how much progress we make, but if we do not wake up about the environment now, then our future generations will have to pay a very heavy price for it.

In the lecture given in the UIIT Seminar Hall, the students listened to his words very carefully. Rapid increase in global warming in ten years Prof. Solanki said that global warming is a matter of great concern for all the countries in the world. Solar energy is being adopted very fast as an alternative to energy. There is a focus on converting all the things used in routine into solar energy.

Dr. Solanki said that we have only 7 to 10 years left before reaching the global warming of 1.5 degree centigrade (IPCC report). Therefore, drastic and immediate steps have to be taken to reduce climate change. Professor Solanki accepted that now people will have to shift towards solar energy.

He said that it has to be made a mass movement. Solanki has pledged to travel 11 years long Urja Swaraj Yatra (2020-30) through a solar bus. Professor made the bus home to the students and teachers of PU. Solanki gave detailed information about the solar powered bus.

Energy Swaraj Bus has facilities for working, sleeping, cooking, washing and training. The bus has a 3.2 kWh solar panel and a 6 kWh battery for storage. It also has a 3KVA inverter. The lights, coolers, kitchen stove, TV, AC, laptop charging inside the bus are all powered by solar energy. For students Prof. Chetan Solanki’s bus was full of excitement.
