Thiruvananthapuram∙ Governor Arif Muhammad Khan’s secretary and senior IAS officer Dr. Devendra Kumar Dodhawat is leaving Kerala. He is a native of Rajasthan and has submitted an application to go on central deputation. It will be decided soon.

He applied with the Governor’s permission to go on deputation to Delhi or to central government institutions in his native Rajasthan. Family is in Rajasthan. There is a need for such a relocation that one can spend at least once a week with the family for matters including the education of the younger child.

After the Governor-Government dispute, there was an interpretation that the Secretary, who is also a Kerala cadre officer, is leaving Kerala. However, Raj Bhavan explained that the application for central deputation has nothing to do with the dispute between the government and the governor.

Devendra Kumar Dodhawat took charge as the Secretary in April 2016 when Justice P. Sadasivam was the Governor. Dodhawat continued even when Arif Muhammad Khan became the governor. He was later promoted as Principal Secretary. It has been in service for less than 5 years now. He is going on deputation for a few days because he has been in Raj Bhavan for six and a half years.
